Depth of Field Experiments

Yesterday I took some photographs experimenting with aperture and shutter speed to see how the depth of field within an image changes, due to the amount of light being let in through the lens. Below are the four photos that I have taken, none of which have been edited. I started with an f stop of 29, which is allowing less light into the lens, with a long exposure time of 10 seconds therefore the photo is in focus. As I allowed more light in through the lens by changing the f stop and reducing the amount of time the shutter was open for, the images became less focused in the background creating depth of field.

f/29 - 10sec

f/20 - 4.5sec

f/9 - 1.3sec

f/5.6 - 0.4sec
