We produced these experiments as a group to see different ways of shining light onto a bottle and to see the different effects you can get from forming shadows and creating highlights. For this shoot the subject was placed onto a black backdrop that was over a table.
The initial image we too with all lights in the room on.
Here we used a lamp and some material attatched to wood to diffuse the light.
For this image we used a lamp with black paper rolled into the shape of a snoot, to send the light in one direction towards the object.
Here we used the lamp and white board to reflect the light back onto the bottle.
Here we used a lamp and white board as a reflector.

We used a lamp, white board as a reflector as well as black board as an absorber of light for this image.
.
Here we have used a lamp on its own.
Doing these experiements helped me to understand a little more about the effects you can create using studio lighitng in different ways to create different effects on a subject.
Below we have experiemented with different ways of lighing a polystirein head, forming different shadows and highlights.
Here we have used just the lamp to get the different shadows.
Using black paper rolled up to form the shape of a snoot to go over the lamp, we were able to get more definition on the left side of the face, as that is where the light was pointing, this cause the right side of the face to be almost black.
Again using the paper as a snoot, we this time placed a red coloured disc in front of the light, creating more effective tones and shadows.
We did the same as the above image here, only this time using a yellow disc for a different effect.
Here we used the lamp and placed material in front of the light diffusing it, and creating more shadows as there is not much light.
Here we used black board to absorb some of the light and create more shadows on the face.
Here we used white board as a reflector to shine the light back onto the face so there are less shadows.
In this image and the next 3 we used a portacube to diffuse the light in all different directions, here we simply used a lamp on its own.
Here we used the lamp and black board as an absorber of the light to create more shadows on one side of the face.
We did the same as in the above image only this time with a red disc to get a different effect.
For some of these experiments the subject was placed on top of a light table, and then we looked at using a portacube to see the different effects you could get by diffusing the light.
All of the experiments that we have done in the studio so far have helped me gain a better understanding of different techniques that can be used to get different shadows on objects.
