Studio Experiments.

Last week we had the chance to experiment with different lighting in the studio, using only home made equipment, but still being able to get the same effect that you could get with branded equipment. Here are some of the experiments that we produced within a group. The equipment that we had to use were: a lamp attached to a stick in a bucket of cement, white and black boards for reflectors and absorbers of light and material on a frame to act as a diffuser.

We placed coloured discs in front of the lamp, creating different tones and shadows, due to the way the light was hitting the object after passing through the discs.

Here we shone a torch underneath the object, forming strong shadows and defining features.

Here there was the one source of light coming from the left, being the lamp, which has created strong shadows in some areas, due to how the light is hitting it.

The four images above have been created by using a torch to draw with light around the objects, using a long exposure time.
